Why do I make art? Simply, to me, art is like breathing. I cannot imagine a life without it. Art is an outlet that is innate for me. There is a form of communication that wouldn’t exist otherwise. Art is a way to express my life moving through me. I can articulate what organized words cannot. My work is a direct line to my truth that is fearless.
When I am creating, I experience a total suspension of time. I start a piece and let the process of making art take precedence over what the end result will be. The state I am in while creating is important and intentional.
I am currently working with themes of positivity, fun, spirituality and human emotion. My art allows me to center, be inspired and to live in a space of mindfulness. I work in mixed media, acrylics, collage, wood burning, small sculpture, and encaustic as of late. I use what medium feels right for the project at hand.
I know a work is finished when I feel a part of me is visible and left behind. Something I need to say is in front of me. At times, the emotional transformation takes place right before my eyes.
One of my goals as an artist is to express the experiences I have as a person. I also wish to facilitate others to bring their experiences and vision forward. I feel that what is good for me is good for others, and good for us as a whole. Creativity and playfulness leads to something special.
I invite the audience to view my work and see their own version of the story there. That is the beauty of art, and why I use Art of the Human Experience.
